EMCORE Announces 10G Family of openGear Video Transport Technology at NAB Show 2011

ALBUQUERQUE, NM -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 04/11/11 -- EMCORE Corporation (NASDAQ: EMKR), a leading provider of compound semiconductor-based components, subsystems and systems for the fiber optics and solar power markets, announced the addition of 10Gb/s optical transport cards for the openGear platform. EMCORE's 10G technology and platform is designed to be the next-generation high-bandwidth fiber optic video transport systems for broadcast and professional audio/visual markets.

With a growing demand for high-speed video distribution technology, EMCORE has expanded its portfolio to include new products that support the television broadcasting and film industry. As demand for bandwidth grows, fiber technology becomes critical to meet such bandwidth requirements as well as enhancing existing infrastructure. The openGear card family supports a modular design with innovative daisy-chain technology at a 10Gb/s bandwidth and allows feature updates remotely.
