The long awaited promise of near limitless high-speed internet and ultra-high-definition television delivered through fiber optic networks to the home or commercial premise is inching closer to realization with the continued rollout of services such as Verizon’s Fios and AT&T’s U-verse. Cable Multiple System Operators (MSOs) are extending their hybrid fiber coax (HFC) networks deeper into neighborhoods to cope with the increasing per user bandwidth demand.

EMCORE supports deployments of fiber optics-based access networks for homes and businesses worldwide for both Telecom GPON FTTP networks and Cable RFoG topologies, where nodes are being split to serve a smaller subscriber base per transmitter and RFoG and FTTH networks are being deployed directly in greenfield applications.

Our products for RFoG applications include RFoG optical transceivers, analog fiber optic transmitters for video overlay with high-power Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFA), plus analog lasers, photodiodes and video receivers. For GPON Optical Networking Unit (ONU) applications, EMCORE develops 1310 to 1610 nm laser diode chips along with 2.5 and 10G avalanche photodiode chips.
