EMCORE-OrionTM Series Micro Inertial Navigation Systems (MINAV)*

The EMCORE-OrionTM EN-1000/2000 are high-precision Micro Inertial Navigation Systems (MINAV) that are developed primarily for applications where navigation aids such as GPS are unavailable or denied. EMCORE’s advanced technology has enabled the units to provide stand-alone aircraft grade navigator performance comparable to that of traditional RLG Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) at 1/3 the Size, Weight and Power (SWaP).

The EMCORE-OrionTM series is a state-of-the-art, fiber optic gyro-based IMU and Inertial Navigation System (INS) platform incorporating EMCORE’s proprietary integrated optics devices that enhance performance and reliability at lower cost than competing systems. The options for IMU or INS operation provides customers the flexibility to choose the performance level tailored to their application, and the INS model is also capable of being aided by an external GPS for additional flexibility. In a GPS denied environment the EMCORE-Orion MINAV INS series can gyrocompass from approximately 0.8 to 1.2 milliradian depending on the model.

The EMCORE-OrionTM EN-1000/2000 INS design provides lower noise and greater stability than competing INS at a significantly lower volume. Its low SWaP makes it an ideal inertial navigation platform for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs), Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs), manned aircraft, rotorcraft, dismounted soldier applications and more. The Model EN-1000 is non-ITAR controlled.
