Opticomm-EMCORE InfoComm 2016 Wrap-Up

InfoComm 2016 concluded recently at the Las Vegas Convention Center. At the show, Opticomm-EMCORE showcased its Video over IP solutions featuring the HD4-E and HD4-D High-Definition H.264, HDMI, VGA and Component Video and Audio Encoder/Decoder with new rack-mount kit options and its new EzIP Matrix suite of streaming and software management solutions. We also showcased the latest additions to the Genesis XD multimedia matrix switching and Optiva multimedia transport platforms, and introduced the new AFC-DP 4K DisplayPortTM Active Fiber Cable.

HD4-E & HD4-D High-Definition H.264 HDMI, VGA, Component Video and Audio Encoder/Decoder

Opticomm-EMCORE’s professional grade HD4-E and HD4-D encoder/decoder deliver cost-effective, visually lossless 1920×1200 or 1080p/60 high-definition video streaming over IP at low bit rates networks making them an ideal solution for Video over IP and for delivering high-quality video to any location within a LAN.

They feature HDMI 1.4a and VGA inputs on the encoder and HDMI 1.4a output on the decoder with an adjustable bit rate from 256 Kbps to 30 Mbps depending on application. Video encoding options include H.264 Baseline, Main and High Profile encoding, as well as unicast or multicast IP streams. Audio encoding includes MPEG 1 Layer II and AAC-LC. The HD4 encoder can also act as a simultaneous decoder allowing video and audio to be streamed in both directions over the LAN. Additional features of the HD4-E and HD4-D include analog stereo audio inputs and outputs, or embedded audio in HDMI, selectable latency settings of high (250 ms), medium (130 ms), and low (80 ms), and fiber SFP or standard RJ45 copper interfaces.

Enclosed in ruggedized aluminum housings, the HD4-E and HD4-D encoder/decoder are perfectly suited towards space constrained or mobile applications and the new Rack-Mount Kit enclosure options expand the HD4’s installation flexibility from standalone to rack-mount operation. 2- or 9-slot aluminum rack-mount kits are available. The HD4-E and HD4-D feature an intuitive, easy to use web GUI to set-up and control the encoders/decoders, as well as the video network.

Genesis XD s a comprehensive solution for a wide variety of ultra high-definition digital media distribution applications. 32×32, 16×16 and 8×8 matrix switch options are available that accept and convert both analog and digital signals, including HDMI 1.4b with HDCP, Display Port, DVI, VGA, Component and 3G HD-SDI. These signals can be transmitted to remote locations via singlemode or multimode fiber, CATx/HDBaseT, or over IP/Ethernet. GXD’s massive 40 Gbps backplane accommodates uncompressed 4K UHD resolutions now and 8K resolutions in the future, allowing it to serve as a staple for installers that want a flexible and reliable connectivity platform.

Mission-critical features include the ability to break-away and switch audio separately, embed and de-embed audio into digital video signals, and preview any connected video source on the front touch-screen panel, eliminating the need for a local and dedicated monitor.

The capabilities of Genesis XD can be further expanded in combination with EMCORE’s Optiva Multimedia Transport Platform. Genesis compatible Optiva transmitters and receivers, including the OTP-1HDMI2A-USB-ETH and OTC-HDMI2A-USB-ETH, are designed for multimedia transport and distribution over fiber or CATx/HDBaseT. In combination with Genesis fiber or CATx/HDBaseT modules, they enable an all-in-one transport, converting, switching, and routing system for small-to-large Enterprise video distribution systems.

AFC-DP 4K DisplayPortTM Active Fiber Cable

The AFC-DP expands the AFC active fiber cable series, which also includes the AFC-HDMI2 HDMI Active Fiber Cable, and is designed for plug-and-play uncompressed distribution of DisplayPort streams up to 70 meters for power-efficient digital multimedia signal extension at the highest industry resolutions up to 4K/60Hz (3840×2160 & 4096×2160).

The AFC-DP is electronically designed to draw current from the source device, so does not require an external power supply. The cable is thin (3.4 mm), light and robust (500N pulling and crush load strength) and employs a hybrid approach utilizing a combination of optical fiber and insulated copper wires. AFC-DP active fiber cables incorporate the latest advances in DisplayPort technology with video resolutions up to 4K/60Hz along with the highest quality audio of up to 8 channels of 16 or 24 bit linear PCM at 32 to 192 KHz sampling rates.

The AFC-DP is plenum-rated for ease of installation through tight wall spaces and conduit, and has reduced risk of EMI and RFI degradation compared to conventional copper cables for stable performance in typically high-interference environments or wherever high-resolution and 24/7 operation is required.
