Opticomm-EMCORE IBC 2015 Preview

IBC is a premier event for professionals in the creation and delivery of entertainment and news content worldwide. The event attracts more than 55,000 attendees from all over the world with more than 1,700 exhibiting companies showcasing the latest innovations and technologies in electronic media and entertainment across fourteen halls. The show will be held at the RAI in Amsterdam, The Netherlands from Sept. 11 – 15.

At IBC 2015, EMCORE will be exhibiting in hall 5, booth #5.B21 and will be featuring a live demonstration of its new HD4-E and HD4-D High-Definition H.264, HDMI, VGA and Component Video and Audio Encoder/Decoder, along with the latest additions to the Genesis XD multimedia matrix switching platform, and the Optiva and openGear configurable video, audio and data transport platforms. Opticomm-EMCORE will also be featuring the new AFC-M-HDMI2 Micro-HDMI Active Fibre Cable with detachable HDMI-A adapter.

HD4-E and HD4-D H.264 Encoder/Decoder

HD4The HD4-E and HD4-D deliver visually lossless 1920×1200 or 1080p/60 broadcast quality, HD video over standard Ethernet networks making them an ideal solution for Video over IP and for delivering high-quality video to any location within a LAN. They feature HDMI 1.4a and VGA inputs on the encoder and HDMI 1.4a output on the decoder with an adjustable bit rate from 256 Kbps to 30 Mbps depending on application. Video encoding options include H.264 Baseline, Main and High Profile encoding, as well as unicast or multicast IP streams. Audio encoding includes MPEG 1 Layer II and AAC-LC. The HD4 encoder can also act as a simultaneous decoder allowing video and audio to be streamed in both directions over the LAN.

Additional features of the HD4-E and HD4-D include analog stereo audio inputs and outputs, or embedded audio in HDMI, selectable latency settings of high (250 ms), medium (130 ms), and low (80 ms, optional), and fibre SFP or standard RJ45 copper interfaces.

The HD4-E and HD4-D encoder/decoder are enclosed in ruggedized aluminum housings that are perfectly suited towards space constrained or mobile applications. They feature an intuitive, easy to use web GUI to set-up and control the encoders/decoders, as well as the video network. Additionally, the HD4 web GUI has the ability to detect any HD4 encoder or decoder on the LAN and to connect any encoder to any decoder, or a single encoder to multiple decoders.

Genesis XD Compatible Optiva Transmitters and Receivers

OTP-1HDMI2-USB-ETHThe new Optiva OTP-1HDMI2A-USB-ETH and OTC-HDMI2A-USB-ETHare Genesis XD compatible transmitters and receivers designed for multimedia transport and distribution over fibre or CATx/HDBaseT. Both models are compatible with the Genesis XD multimedia cross-point matrix switch platform, enabling point-to-point and point-to-multipoint multimedia distribution systems with Genesis fibre or CATx/HDBaseT modules.

The new Genesis compatible Optiva OTP-1HDMI2A-USB-ETH transmitter and receiver provide multimedia extension of 4K video along with audio, Ethernet and USB for keyboard and mouse over fibre. It is a single slot fibre extender that supports the HDMI 1.4b and Audio Return Channel (ARC). It also supports stereo analog audio, 10/100 Ethernet and USB for keyboard and mouse control. A single fibre cable can extend these signals up to 100 meters away.


The Optiva OTC-HDMI2A-USB-ETH provides multimedia extension of 4K video along with audio, Ethernet and USB for keyboard and mouse over CATx/HDBaseT. The OTC-HDMI2A-USB-ETH is a single CATx/HDBaseT extender that supports HDMI 1.4b and Audio Return Channel (ARC). It also supports stereo analog audio, 10/100 Ethernet and USB for keyboard and mouse control. A single CATX cable can extend these signals up to 100 meters away.

Genesis XD 16×16 Multimedia Cross-Point Matrix Switch

GXD-16The Genesis XD 16×16 matrix switch will be showcased at IBC and is the latest in the Genesis family that also includes 32×32 and 8×8 matrix options. Genesis XD is an all-in-one multimedia matrix switch platform that converts, scales, switches and distributes up to 4K UHD resolution video, plus audio and data for small to large connectivity applications over Fibre, CATx and IP. The new GXD-16 provides up to 16 video inputs and outputs and features a massive 40 Gbps backplane that supports 4K resolutions now and 8K resolutions in the future. With Genesis you can switch and convert any signal input to any signal output with scaling, allowing it to serve as a staple for installers that want a flexible and reliable connectivity platform.

The featured Genesis card modules at IBC will include fibre, 3G HD-SDI and HDMI cards. Modular video blades for Genesis XD overall support a wide variety signal types and connections at resolutions up to 4K UHD (3840×2160) including Fibre, HDBaseT, HDMI® 1.4b (HDCP), DVI, VGA, Component, 3G HD-SDI and Display Port.

openGear® Platform

OG3-FROpticomm-EMCORE provides solutions for high-definition multimedia distribution on openGear® platform including 3G HD-SDI video conversion and distribution with embedded audio, DVI / VGA / Component video conversion and distribution with audio and remote KVM support up to 4K UHD, and IF- and L-Band satellite signals for headend RF signal distribution and interfacility links.

Opticomm-EMCORE will display the openGear® OG3-FR at IBC, which is a flexible terminal equipment solution based on an open architecture with modular frame design for video, audio and data distribution over fibre optics. Featured card modules will include the OPG-2HDP for 3G-HD-SDI transport, the OPG-1DVI2A1UKM DVI / VGA, 4K UHD KVM extender and the OPG-1L transmitter and receiver which provide transparent signal transport between broadcast or cable network antenna facilities and control room terminal equipment.

AFC-M-HDMI2 Micro-HDMI Active Fibre Cable

AFC-Series-Active-Fiber-CablesThe new AFC-M-HDMI2 Micro-HDMI Active Fibre Cable with detachable HDMI-A adapter expands the AFC Active Fibre Cable series, which also includes the AFC-HDMI2 with standard HDMI connector, and is designed for distribution of high-definition video up to 4K UHD resolution over much longer distances than copper cables.

The AFC-M-HDMI2 is available in standard lengths up to 100 meters and supports HDMI extension from set-top boxes, DVD players, Blu-ray players and video game consoles to large displays, including projectors and 4K UHD capable TV’s. It is powered exclusively by the HDMI source, so does not require any external power supply. It features Micro-HDMI connectors for ease of installation through tight wall spaces and conduit, plus the ability to connect directly to mobile devices, or tablets with micro HDMI connections. With the provided HDMI-A adapter, it can also connect to standard HDMI sources and displays.

Opticomm-EMCORE’s HDMI Active Fibre Cables incorporate the latest advances in HDMI technology including 3D and 2K4K/UHD, plus deep color from HDMI or DVI (with passive adapter) ports. They deliver the highest quality audio including Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio and are thinner, lighter and more flexible than copper or standard optical cables while providing transparent EDID and HDCP support without signal attenuation. In addition, AFC series cables are plenum rated providing fire-retardant jacketing for installation in plenum spaces, and they are much more immune to EMI and RFI degradation for stable performance in high-interference environments.
